Dyreparken in Kristiansand is making the largest attraction investment in its history. More than NOK 65 million is going into a brand-new indoor world based on Thorbjørn Egner’s beloved story of the two tooth trolls, Karius and Baktus. With Cardamom Town and Hakkebakkeskogen already in the park, Dyreparken will now be home to all of Egner’s biggest story universes – and Karius and Baktus will move in right next door.
The idea is simple and slightly mad: visitors are shrunk down to troll size and step inside Jens’s mouth. Surrounded by six-metre-tall teeth, they become part of the story as it unfolds around them, in an experience that blends traditional theatre with modern technology. The Egner family has been involved since day one.
“It’s not every day you shrink 5,000 guests a day,” as project manager Morten Skraastad puts it.
Our part
ADP has been part of this journey from the starting gun. We designed and engineered the physical installations, worked side by side with Dyreparken on all creative outputs, and we are producing a large interactive installation that will be a huge experience for children when it opens for Easter 2027.
